This panel is all about you! If you're at ISC, we want to hear your opinion. Every voice in the choir matters -- we invite you to bring your voice to this ISC 2026 conversation on the future of HPC-AI.
The ISC HPC team is thrilled to bring back the popular and entertaining Fishbowl Panel format this year. As in past years, Addison Snell will moderate a rotating three-person panel, discussing wide-ranging topics on the future of HPC and AI. At regular intervals, we'll swap a panelist for a willing volunteer from the audience. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard.
The Fishbowl Panel covers a wide variety of topics, following the interests of the ever-changing panelists. This year we will focus on truth: "What Is Truth, Anyway? (And Does It Even Matter?)" This topic is imperative as we infused AI into our traditional HPC models, accelerating the rate of research, but also increasing the need to touch base with "ground truth." Questions could include:
- Does the use of AI increase or decrease the fidelity of simulations?
- How do we establish "ground truth" in fields of study that are impractical or impossible to measure directly?
- What is the role of reduced precision and emulations (e.g. Ozaki)? Where does it fit, and where is there work to do?
- How does quantum computing fit into the picture?
- How do national and organizational sovereignty initiatives affect investment and collaboration?
- How is science evolving along with AI? Consider agents and the implications of their usage in roles from research to peer review.
Your voice is part of this industry, and we want to hear it -- especially if you are early career, or from an underrepresented demographic, or have not participated in a panel like this before. The HPC-AI community is more than the few voices at the top. We all determine the future together.
Welcome to the Fishbowl!
