Integration of Quantum Computing and HPC
Information
Integrating Quantum Computing (QC) into standard HPC facilities presents significant challenges due to the lack of a unified architectural approach from both HPC centers and hardware vendors. This fragmentation results in bespoke solutions that are difficult to maintain and scale over time.
To address this, we present QDMI-on IQM, a turnkey solution designed to seamlessly integrate IQM quantum computers into existing HPC environments. We have developed a C adapter that interfaces between the HPC infrastructure and the quantum backend. This integration layer establishes a clear separation between frontend and backend by implementing the QDMI specification, a versatile, vendor-agnostic standard that supports multiple programming languages.
Committed to open science and collaboration, we release this tool as open-source software. QDMI-on-IQM empowers users to develop complex hybrid quantum workflows and enables centers to rapidly operationalize these services by connecting directly to existing HPC management tools.
