Information
HPC and cloud computing have been on the path of convergence since a while. Scientific and technical computing workflows have grown in complexity, necessitating cloud like services to fulfill these demands. At the same time, computing workloads in cloud have grown in scale, requiring HPC concepts integrated into the hyperscalers’ data centers and control planes. While this was already true for traditional scientific and technical computing, AI/ML is supercharging this trend. Not only is AI/ML training a formidable HPC workload driving cloud and on-prem computing alike but also is AI/ML increasingly interwoven with HPC workflows and entering the HPC workloads, challenging traditional architectures and sizing considerations. In this talk I will illustrate how this advanced computing is driving the convergence of HPC and cloud.
