Information
Today’s HPC ecosystem, in particular in the context of AI applications, is reaching power requirements and energy consumptions which surpass what has been deemed realistic a few years ago. Many developments and innovations target the reduction of this growing energy footprint of HPC. One promising innovation is analog computing. Analog computing can substantially reduce the total power consumption for certain tasks while optimizing throughput.
In this BoF the community will have the opportunity to ask questions and get some first-hand information from industry, academia and HPC centers on what is possible with analog computing today and what will be possible tomorrow. Topics will be the advantages of analog, applications and interfacing of analog computing, different analog computing platforms as well analog neuromorphic computing.
In an open discussion, we want to convey key ideas of analog computing and convince the community that analog computing has a real impact and that it will be a part of the future of HPC.
