Commodity Interconnect in Next Generation: Perspective on Hardware and Software

In this panel, we will introduce and discuss on the new technologies to support commodity interconnect for any cluster-style supercomputing. For the hardware side, there are traditional InfiniBand which occupies majority of most of cluster systems in TOP500 list, however a new technology such as Ultra-Ethernet is coming soon with many attractive features. For the software, MPI is still on going but some other communication models and APIs will appear. We overview the next generation of interconnect technologies and how they impact to the commodity cluster solutions.
