GENCI (Grand Equipement National de Calcul Intensif) is the French HPC research infrastructure. It is a public operator created in 2007 with the mission to democratize the use of numerical simulation through high-performance computing, associated today with the use of artificial intelligence at scale and soon with hybrid quantum computing.
GENCI supports French scientific and industrial competitiveness through its three missions :
- Implement the national strategy of equipping France with high performance computing, storage and massive data processing resources associated with AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies and future quantum computing technologies for the benefit of French and European open scientific research, relying on the three national computing centers,
- Support the creation of an integrated ecosystem for HPC, AI and quantum computing on a national and European scale with its participation into EuroHPC,
- Promote numerical simulation and AI through HPC for academic and industrial open research teams.
